This is the full list of GAMEHIGHED outputs. They can be downloaded as ZIP archives from Google Drive linked below, and as separate files from E+ Project Results Platform

O1 GAMEHIGHED Initial Report

Output O1 is a 250-page report in EN, with summaries also available in PL, TR, CZ and FI. The main EN report is available in high-res and low-res versions, which with the 4 local-language summaries make a total of 6 PDF files. The report was created jointly by teams from every partner organisation, and is informed by mutual study visits to each partner’s headquarters for first-hand insights, knowledge-exchange and networking with local staff, students, administrators and their stakeholders from the local-national environment.

O2 BA Curriculum in Narrative & Game Design

Output O2 is the smallest one. It consists of a Bachelor-level curriculum in Narrative & Game Design, available in three language versions: EN, PL, CZ (i.e. 3 PDF files). It was created in cross-national collaboration with all partners as contributors or consultants, with the leading role of the UKW team. 

O3 Bachelor-level Resource Pack

Output O3 is the largest one. It includes syllabi and teacher’s booklets for 12 Bachelor-level courses (26 PDF files - 24  EN, 2 CZ), created by multiple teams with their own task leaders:

O3 also includes a software tool to generate writing prompts as exercises for storytelling/narrative studies (1 ZIP with software and user manual plus a database of 12 CSV files as interactive resources to go with the software). Moreover, O3 includes an introductory board game design workshop for schools in all 5 languages (5 PDF files - 1 EN, 1 CZ, 1 TR, 1 PL, 1 FI). Altogether, O3 is a huge resource pack of Bachelor-level syllabi and teacher’s booklets released on the CC BY SA license. They can be directly implemented - with or without modifications - in any edu-programme in the EU and beyond.

O4 Master and PhD Curricula

Output O4 is a collection of five Master- and PhD-level curricula: 

  1. MA in Game Studies
  2. MSc in Computer Science - Visual Computing and Game Development; 
  3. MA in Narratology for Game Writers & Designers 
  4. …and its variant named Literary Studies for Game Writers & Designers
  5.  PhD in Game Studies. 

The MSc curriculum is also available in CZ, and two variants of MA in Narratology in PL. The total number is 6 PDF files (4 EN, 1 PL, 1 CZ). UKW team had the leading role on the creation of Narratology, JYU - MA in Game Studies, BAU - PhD in Game Studies, CU - Computing. Released on the CC BY SA license, they can be directly implemented - with or without modifications - in any edu-programme in the EU and beyond.

O5 Master-level Resource Pack

Output O5 is a collection of Master-level syllabi and teacher’s guides for 12 modules (courses), which make a total of 19 PDF files (13 EN, 4 FI, 2 TR). The courses are:

  3. Storyworld-building: Worlds, Places, Environments
  4. Theory of Adaptation & Interactivation
  5. Esports Cultures
  6. Music and Sound in Gameplay
  7. Game Research Methods

  10. Market-oriented Game Prototyping
  11. Procedural Content Generation in Computer Games
  12. Psychology of Play and Games

It also includes a set of 4 interactive exercises (Google Forms) in EN, PL and CZ versions. They all are based on a specific curriculum from our Output O4, i.e. some of the courses are built for MA in Narratology for Game Writers & Designers, some for MA in Game Studies, and some for MSc in Visual Computing and Game Development. All this is released on the CC BY SA license. They can be directly implemented - with or without modifications - in any edu-programme in the EU and beyond. 

O6 GAMEHIGHED Curriculum Generator

Output O6 consists of the digital curriculum generator (1 software item) and 3 PDF files. The digital tool is available as 1 ZIP file with software for installation on the university’s server with desktop clients for the users. It includes a database with a selection of curricula and syllabi from our outputs O2, O3, O4 and O5. The PDFs include: user manual for the generator, a set of model curricular learning outcomes, and a comparison of the learning outcomes to official Czech occupational standards for gamedev jobs (with a link to an external appendix:  EN translations of occupational standars for 9 gamedev professions recognised in the Czech National Qualifications Framework). Released on the CC BY SA license, the software can be directly implemented - with or without further modifications - for curriculum development by any edu-organisation in the EU and beyond. Our list of model learning outcomes may also be used without the generator, as a set of building blocks to create the list of learning outcomes for any formal games-ed curriculum. 

O8 Research and Handbook for Game Jam Organizers

Output O8 (originally planned as O7 and O8) consists of two documents: 

  1. Academic paper titled Review of Educational Benefits of Game Jams: Participant and Industry Perspective (L. Kolek, M. Mochocki, J. Gemrot)
  2. Game Jam Organisation Handbook (V. Cerny, J. Gemrot, J. Kolek, M. Mochocki). 

Fragments of O8 are also available in PL, CZ and TR. This makes a total of 5 PDF files (2 EN, 1 PL, 1 CZ, 1 TR). O8 materials were created with the leading role of CUNI and GDACZ, based on their extensive experience in hosting game jams in academia-industry collaboration. Released on the CC BY SA license, the handbook can be directly implemented - with or without modifications - for any game jam by any organisation in the EU and beyond.

O9 Pre-Game Jam Workshops Pack

Output O9 is a collection of materials for three pre-game jam workshops: 

  1. Game Making with Unity workshop
  2. Art Workshop with Photopea workshop
  3. Game Design and Production workshop

It also includes an “Introduction to Game Jams” lecture and a separate introduction to the whole O9 resource pack. Some of the EN materials have versions in PL, CZ and TR. The full set includes 15 PDF files (6 EN, 6 CZ, 2 TR, 1 PL), 4 PPT files (1 EN, 1 CZ, 1 TR, 1 PL), 14 MP4 video files (for the Art workshop) and 8 image files (assets for the Art workshop - 1 JPG, 1 PSD, 6 PNG files), as well as a sample Unity game project (software - 1 ZIP file). O9 materials were created with the leading role of CUNI and GDACZ, based on their extensive experience in hosting game jams in academia-industry collaboration. Released on the CC BY SA license, they can be directly implemented - with or without modifications - for any gamejamming workshop by any organisation in the EU and beyond.

O10 GAMEHIGHED Companion Book

Output O10 is one 220-page “GAMEHIGHED Companion Book” in EN, with accompanying summaries or translated fragments in CZ, PL, TR and FI summaries. "Part 1: General Recommendations" is a set of best practices for formal education focused on careers in game design and development. This essentially covers all our insights from many years of games-ed involvement, now extracted in the form of short and precise recommendations. "Part 2: GAMEHIGHED Intellectual Outputs" is a guide to all other outputs created in the project. "Part 3: GAMEHIGHED Journeys" is a collection of our individual institution's reports and reflections on their journeys through the three years of the project. This includes aspects never discussed in other Outputs, for instance, comments on the institutional and legal concerns and constraints that should be taken into account by those who are considering the launch of games-ed programmes in formal HEI environments.
